Join Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dance Company for a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony to kick off the QPAC 40 Open Day.

Elements Collective, an internationally recognised dance company spearheading the Australian Hip Hop dance community since 2010, will fire up our QPAC 40 Open Day crowd.

Gather on the Green to reflect on 40 years of QPAC and look ahead to an exciting future. Interwoven with our Chief Executive address and surprise performances!

Broadway Bingo
12pm to 1pm
Outside the Jukebox’s Broadway Bingo is part concert, part game, and totally unpredictable. Brisbane’s top musical theatre talents deliver surprise twists, outrageous costumes, and songs drawn live from a bingo cage – where secret powers rule and no one knows what’s coming next!
Toni Janke and Band
1:30pm to 2:15pm
Experience the soulful sounds of award-winning singer/songwriter Toni Janke who brings her unique style and powerful presence to the stage. With a blend of rich vocals and heartfelt lyrics, her performance will offer an intimate, musical journey on the Melbourne Street Green.
Tjaka
2:45pm to 3:30pm
Feel the energy of Tjaka, a Brisbane/Meanjin trio blending electronic beats, lava-hot rap, and the sounds of the Didjeribone and FaceBass. Brothers Geoff and Jake Fabila are descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the Kimberley who deliver a high-octane fusion of funk, reggae, and dance that’s electrified crowds from Splendour in the Grass to Taiwan’s PASIWALI Festival.
DJ Jeremy Neale

Across the day, DJ Jeremy Neale will keep the vibes flowing on the Melbourne Street Green with feel-good tunes. Expect a great mix of upbeat tunes that bring the party atmosphere to the QPAC 40 Open Day.

Collections Exhibition

To celebrate four decades of joy, stories, gathering and inclusion, join us and explore an exhibition hosted by the QPAC Collections team. Discover archival items on display and hear from the passionate and dedicated Collections team about the stories behind what’s on display and what’s stored in our massive Collection. Since opening in April 1985 the QPAC Collections team has amassed over 100,000 items that share QPAC’s fascinating history and take us behind the curtain.

The Echoing Space

Add your voice to a living time capsule of QPAC’s past, present, and future in a collective art installation by theatre maker Penny Challen. Visitors are invited to share cherished QPAC memories or imagine its future through paper art. Materials are provided, with the option to bring personal mementos (photos, ticket stubs, programs, etc.) to be scanned on site, capturing the ephemeral echoes of performances, community experiences, and cultural moments that have shaped QPAC’s history.

Light up the Cremorne Stage with this hands-on opportunity to try a followspot. Scan the stage with your spotlight to reveal spectacular props and costumes specially selected from the QPAC Collections. Discover the challenge of this crucial lighting role.
