Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved Pirates of Penzance are sailing into Brisbane in a brand new, semi-staged concert production, starring Ben Mingay, Billy Bourchier, Nina Korbe and Matthew Broadbent.

Following the great success of Jersey Boys earlier this year and their previous concert productions of The Wizard of Oz and Singin’ in the Rain, Prospero Arts are thrilled to present one of the most cherished operetta musicals of all-time. Audiences will be graced with a presentation of Pirates, like they’ve never seen before, directed by the acclaimed Stuart Maunder, in the magnificent Concert Hall.

Please note that due to ill health John Wood will no longer play the role of Sergeant, this role will now be played by Matthew Broadbent.
Semi-staged Concert Production
This semi-staged, concert production of The Pirates of Penzance will follow Gilbert & Sullivan’s full script and score however it is presented in a concert setting with reduced sets, lighting and costumes when compared to a traditional Broadway musical. The focus of the performance is on the story, the score and vocal talent of the cast, who will be accompanied on stage by a 23-piece orchestra.
