Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

Contemporary dance and performance collective, The Farm, present two exclusive works, now available to stream on Digital Stage.

Ninth Wave

What do you do when the world is ending? Party like it’s 1999!

Ninth Wave unfolds like a scene from Inception, with startling and beautiful images taking us ever deeper into the eye of the storm. Entwined with an original score composed by Regurgitator’s Ben Ely this dance on a smoking volcano is the party to end all parties.

Sitting on the edge of the sand you face out to the sea and the vast performance space of the beach, littered with half-buried cars and other detritus. You watch on as a party bubbling over with champagne-drinking fools willfully ignores the warning signs of the end of the world.

A Perpetual State of What the F#@k!

Seen through the eyes of a child, this is a film made like a dream, but a dream we are all in. It’s a dream of our future, blurred and indistinct, seen through a glass windshield, windswept by sand, hidden beneath the waves.

Two children scavenge the carcass of a world decimated by negligence and come across the leftovers of the past, buried in the sand but still moving towards an end that’s out of sight.

Award winning companies Jerrycan Films and The Farm (dance theatre) bring a uniquely physical and visceral aesthetic to the screen in a work of sweeping imagery that asks all of us to remember what keeps us together when it all falls apart.
