Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

    Clancestry

Clancestry returned from 23 July for over two weeks of extraordinary First Nations storytelling, music, dance, art and culture at QPAC!

An iconic event that has been a part of QPAC’s calendar since 2013, Clancestry is a celebration of identity and connection, providing a platform for both established and emerging First Nations artists to share their stories and talents. 2025’s program was a landmark event, bringing together some of the country’s most acclaimed creatives for an unforgettable experience.

The 2025 lineup included the multi-award-winning play The Visitors by Jane Harrison and directed by Wesley Enoch following its critically acclaimed, sold-out seasons. Multi-award-winning electronic music duo Electric Fields joined forces with Queensland Symphony Orchestra for a breathtaking night of music on a grand scale. In one of the most innovative and energising works to emerge, composer and pianist Paul Grabowsky brought the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Yolŋu songmen Daniel Ngukurr Boy Wilfred and David Yipininy Wilfred together for Wata: a gathering for songmen, improvising soloists and orchestra. And returning to Clancestry, the legendary Bangarra Dance Theatre presented Illume – a stunning new work by Mirning Choreographer Frances Rings and Goolarrgon Bard Visual Artist Darrell Sibosado.
