Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

Back by popular demand it’s … Science Smackdown: The Ultimate Debate.

A fun festival highlight where scientists and comedians join forces for an uncensored Saturday night showdown! Don’t miss this hilarious battle of brains, hosted by ABC Radio National’s Big Ideas presenter Natasha Mitchell.

Expect controversy, chaos and plenty of mic drop moments as our debaters go head-to-head in a series of rounds, games, and high jinks. Whether you’re a science fan, a curious learner, or just in for a good time - you’re guaranteed a night of wit, wisdom, and wild ideas.

This is science with a twist, where intellect meets entertainment. And who decides the winner? You, the festival audience! Who will win the coveted title of Science Smackdown Champion this year?

The UQ Impact Series is presented in partnership with The University of Queensland.

Science Smackdown: The Ultimate Debate! is part of World Science Festival Brisbane. Find out more here.
