Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

JS Bach’s profound devotion to the sacred meets the delicacy and poise of contemporary circus. An internationally acclaimed circus performer will be announced soon (a “faultless” (Broadway World) “circus star” (The West Australian)), joining the ensemble for a unique collaboration. Intimate solos by Bach are interlaced with graceful circus motions, transforming both genres.

Around these still moments whirl the irreverent spirits of Poulenc, Stravinsky and Shostakovich, celebrating humanity’s messy splendour. The program ends with Jennifer Higdon’s Zaka, a tour-de-force which “bursts out of the gate, all smiles” (The Philadelphia Inquirer).
