Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

Elements Collective is bringing Hip Hop culture back to QPAC with this year’s Boomtown Block Party – a massive outdoor 4v4 Crew Battle and old-school dance party taking over the Melbourne Street Green.

Inspired by the original block parties that helped shape Hip Hop culture, Boomtown is a celebration of community, music, movement, self-expression, and the energy of the cypher. This year crews will go head-to-head in a format designed to celebrate the full spectrum of street dance culture – every team of four must feature at least one breaker, one female dancer, and a crew routine that brings style, originality, and pure crowd hype.

But the night doesn’t end with the finals. Once the battles are done, the space transforms into a full throwback dance party, with our DJs spinning classic 80s party anthems, funk, hip hop, disco, and feel-good jams late into the night. Think old-school block party energy, big dance circles, and everyone invited to get down. And of course – come dressed to impress, with prizes for best dressed on the night.

Approx. run times:
3pm DJ set
4pm Battles
7pm to 9pm Boomtown Dance Party
