Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

Join beloved Out of the Box artist Sue Loveday, who makes her return to the festival with The Growing Sewing, a cozy sewing circle for children, where they can experiment with stitching and make art using colourful fabrics and thread. This drop-in, hands-on activity encourages creativity and mindfulness, offering an opportunity to become part of a collaborative installation that will grow over the festival. Sue challenges young artists and their adults to work together to make a cubby house where hopes and dreams rest easy.

Drop in for free 9:00am-3:00pm daily.

About the Artist:
Sue Loveday is an artist dedicated to creative play and collaboration as a way to build healthy and vibrant communities.

She grew up on a farm outside of Mundubbera, Queensland where she spent her childhood playing in outfits sewn by her Mum. When Sue learned to sew herself her dream of being an artist came true. Now she sews giant soft things like birds, big smiles and swamps with animals to play with.

Sue graduated from the Queensland College of Art where she studied a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration. She also studied architecture and graphic design.

The Growing Sewing is part of QPAC’s Out of the Box.
