Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

Exclusive to Friends of QPAC, this illuminating panel discussion offers a rare look into the creative processes behind Bangarra Dance Theatre’s production of Illume.

Join rehearsal director Rikki Mason and video designer Craig Wilkinson as they reflect on the deep collaboration with community at the heart of the work. They will highlight the significant story shared by Darrell Sibosado, which has shaped the production’s design, direction and storytelling.

This conversation will explore how Illume honours cultural knowledge and connection to Country through a shared creative process. It also considers how these foundations influence every element of the work, from movement to light.

Join us as we explore the powerful intersection of art, culture and community.
