Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Glasshouse Theatre

Currently under construction, the Glasshouse Theatre will deliver a 1,500 seat theatre to meet existing audience and producer demand.

The Glasshouse Theatre building will be completed in late 2025 and will be open to the public in early 2026.  It will support continued growth of the performing arts in Queensland offering the potential to host an additional 300,000 visitors each year when fully operational.

A major milestone in the journey of QPAC's newest venue was reached in July 2025, when the name, chosen by Queenslanders, was revealed.

Following an incredible response from the community, with over 5,000 votes submitted, the Glasshouse Theatre emerged as the clear favourite, securing 42.7% of the public vote. The name reflects the venue’s striking curved-glass design and its role as a transparent, welcoming space for creativity and connection.

The announcement, made by Minister Langbroek, marks the beginning of the next exciting phase of the project. As our Chief Executive, Rachel Healy, shared: “The naming of the Glasshouse Theatre coincides with the next phase in the venue’s construction, arguably the most exciting part of the project, which is the fit-out of all the details that distinguish it as a theatre,”

Delivery of the theatre is being managed by the Queensland Government’s Department of Housing and Public Works Project Delivery Team on behalf of QPAC and Arts Queensland. For more information about the project including the benefits and timeline, please visit the Arts Queensland website.
