Set to open in late March, QPAC's Glasshouse Theatre will deliver a 1,500 seat theatre to meet existing audience and producer demand.
The Glasshouse will support continued growth of the performing arts in Queensland offering the potential to host an additional 300,000 visitors each year when fully operational.
On March 7, the Glasshouse doors will be opened to the general public for the very first time as the venue hosts a Community Open Day from 9:00am - 4:30pm with ticketed guided tours, pop-up performances in the foyers and visitors free to explore the public spaces learning more about the design of the theatre.
The opening season for the Glasshouse starts with Queensland Ballet's Messa da Requiem from 27 March - 4 April, followed by Sting performing in The Last Ship 9 April - 3 May and Leah Purcell's The Drover's Wife opera from 13 - 22 May.

Box Office & Foyer Opening Times
Ticket collection for the Glasshouse Theatre is available from the Glasshouse Box Office located on level one and accessed via the Russell Street entrance. Please have your booking reference number ready for collection.
Foyers and bars will be open 1.5 hours before performance time.
Drop Off/Loading Zones
There is a patron accessible drop-off zone on Russell Street, which is best for Glasshouse Theatre performances.
Parking
Parking options include the Performing Arts Car Park and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Lifts & Access
The Glasshouse Theatre is fully accessible via lifts from level one. If you require assistance or have booked accessible seating, please notify the Box Office ahead of your visit or contact us on 136 246.
Eat & Drink
Glasshouse Theatre Bars are located on both level two and four.
For a more substantial meal, visit one of QPAC’s nearby dining venues. The closest is Russell Street Wine Bar, located in Russell Street (Playhouse Theatre). Additional options include Storytellers, tomtom, and Lyrebird.
Cloakroom
Bags larger than A4 size and umbrellas must be left in the cloakroom, located on level one. For full details, please go to our Help section.
Bathrooms
Toilets and accessible toilets are available on levels two, four and five within the Glasshouse Theatre foyer spaces. Level two also features a Changing Places facility and a carer’s room. Level four has all gender toilets.
Booster Cushions
There are a limited number of booster seats available. They can be found at all theatre doors.You can find out more information in our help guide.
Merchandise
Show merchandise will be available at the merchandise stand located on level two.
What to wear
It's not necessary to dress up to come to QPAC, although guests may like to dress for a special occasion. Generally, smart casual dress is perfect. As our theatres are air-conditioned, you may want to bring a light wrap or jacket, especially during Brisbane's summer weather.
Glasshouse Theatre Venue Layout Overview
- Level 1: Box Office and Cloakroom. Access is via stairs or ramp.
- Level 2: Merchandise stand, Glasshouse bars, toilets and accessible toilets, Changing Places facility, and carer’s room, First Aid room, Doors 1 and 2. Internal entry point connecting the Glasshouse Theatre to the Playhouse. Access is via the main staircase and lifts.
- Level 3 (Mezzanine Level): Doors 3 and 4. Access via stairs and lifts.
- Level 4: Glasshouse Balcony Bar, toilets, accessible toilets and all gender toilets. Doors 5 and 6. Access via stairs and lifts.
- Level 5: (Upper Mezzanine Level): Accessible toilet, Doors 7 and 8. Access via stairs and lifts.
Glasshouse Theatre Location
The Glasshouse Theatre is located within QPAC and is easily accessible via Russell Street (entry from Grey Street), through internal walkways connecting other QPAC venues, or from the South Bank end of the cultural precinct.
