Lyric Theatre
The stunning 2,000 seat Lyric Theatre is the ‘flagship’ of QPAC.
It offers exceptional acoustics, large main and rear stages, an orchestra pit and a magical atmosphere of warmth and elegance. For these reasons it is the preferred venue for local, interstate and international performers.
Constructed in the traditional horseshoe shape, the auditorium has continental seating with stalls and two levels of balconies.
The stage area includes main, side and rear stages, proscenium arch and apron. The pit may be raised to create a thrust stage. The rear stage can be acoustically isolated so the main and rear stages may be used concurrently.
Concert Hall
The 1,500 seat Concert Hall is a highly versatile concert venue.
The QPAC Concert Hall is one of Australia’s most spectacular concert venues. Its magnificent architecture and acoustics work to deliver a truly memorable performance to every seat in the auditorium. The use of the on-stage choir balcony seats can expand the seating capacity to 1,800.
Although primarily designed for orchestral performances, the Concert Hall displays a versatility that adapts to a range of events including popular music, jazz, stand-up comedy, contemporary performance, graduation ceremonies and award presentations. Towering above the stage, the magnificent Klais Grand Organ, with its impressive array of 6,500 pipes, forms the central architectural focus of the space.
Playhouse
The 850 seat Playhouse is primarily designed for theatre and dance.
The Playhouse boasts sweeping views of the river and city skyline through the cathedral proportioned glass of the foyer and a glass-walled roof top function room.
Built in 1997, the Playhouse is a state-of-the-art venue offering access to cutting edge technology and stage design in a traditional proscenium theatre.
The Playhouse is the ultimate performance space with a flexible proscenium arch, large main and rear stages, side stage, apron, orchestra pit, a Biltflor sprung dance floor and direct dock-to-stage loading.
Cremorne Theatre
It has a maximum seating capacity of 274 patrons. The Cremorne Theatre is ideal for creative productions, cabaret, intimate concerts, theatre, product launches and lectures.
The Cremorne Theatre is QPAC’s most adaptable venue. It is able to convert from traditional proscenium to theatre-in-the-round, concert, cabaret, cinema or flat floor modes, depending on the needs of the production.
