Out of the Box is a biennial festival for children eight years and under, held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). The festival takes pride in its history as a national leader in programming for young children, nurturing children's creativity and imagination.
Two of Australia’s leading artists – writer Libby Hathorn and composer Elena Kats-Chernin – along with a team of expert performance makers, took Libby’s book Outside, and explored its transformation into an opera for children in a shared space between the artists, creatives, children, and their adults.
Before, During, After is a space to share stories and new ideas – where you can meet and interact with leading professional artists, to share the love of arts, literature and performance. The program aims to include children in the creative process through sharing and questioning, examining what it means to be an artist and how artists arrive at their original ideas – connecting children with their artistic and creative lives.
Before, During, After was supported by the Siganto Foundation.
Students of dance, theatre, music, fashion and design from all over Australia can attend a dress rehearsal of Don Quixote or Giselle at a discounted price. Tickets for The Student Movement also include a free Official Program and access to a pre-performance talk between QPAC Scholar in Residence Professor Judith McLean and Guest Curator Leo Schofield AM.
QPAC is a not-for-profit organisation and receives a contribution to operational funding from the Queensland Government. We rely on the support of generous individuals and are extremely grateful for the support of our donors, trusts and foundations which allow us to present and produce ground-breaking programs and events.
