Twelfth Pier is a Brisbane based Jazz trio that focuses on bringing modern sounds to a traditional jazz setting of piano, bass and drums. With influences ranging from Robert Glasper to BadBadNotGood, Anderson Paak and more, one of Twelfth Pier’s main goals is to get people’s heads nodding and their feet tapping with their own arrangements of Hip-Hop and Funk tunes as well as their own compositions.
Theo Parrott is a young baritone sax and piano player making his way onto the scene in his first year studying a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Saxophone at the Queensland Conservatorium. One of his main focuses being bringing the baritone sax to the forefront of the Brisbane Jazz Scene, Theo performs in a variety of different ensembles including the Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band, Conservatorium Big Band, the John Hoffman Ensemble and a variety of other small ensembles in and around the Conservatorium. As well as this, he also runs his own trio, Twelfth Pier, which focuses on bringing modern influences such as Robert Glasper and BadBadNotGood into a traditional jazz setting.
James Parkin is a Brisbane based Drummer who is currently studying at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. James grew up in a musical home playing all types of music, ranging from rock, to funk, to classic jazz, so playing in a Trio of this style feels right at home for James, as he gets to combine all styles of drumming into one, to play the music of Twelfth Pier.
Massimo Dell’Annunziata is a Brisbane based Jazz bassist, studying currently at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Growing up, he was exposed to a wide array of genres from early 2000’s house music to Acid Jazz to hard rock, which have all influenced his playing. Playing within trio's and implementing all styles and techniques from his childhood genres, Massimo is able to communicate fluidly with his band members and their ideas throughout a multiplicity of settings.
