Join us at Green Jam for a packed evening introducing the next iteration of QPAC’s Seedlings program: Blakbeats.
Blakbeats brings together a collection of First Nations musicians from musically diverse backgrounds to collaborate and create new works. Over three days the group will work together to create new tracks which will be delivered as part of a First Nations-focused Green Jam, in collaboration with the Footprints dance program.
Ling Jay; also known as Alinta McGrady, is a captivating creative who empowers the masses with her raw and energetic performance style. Having worked with various creatives in the Brisbane performing arts scene and at numerous festivals and events, she is also the other half of Duet ‘Balairi’ with Benjin Maza.
THE ANCIENT BLOODS
The Ancient Bloods are an interchanging band that delivers music projects as part of Digi Youth Arts mentoring platform for Indigenous young people. In 2018, they released their first album Golden Veins as part of the critically acclaimed unsettle project run by Digi Youth Arts at the Queensland Museum. Currently, the second iteration of The Ancient Bloods are working on new music in response to country and place in Brisbane. With each project, The Ancient Bloods will deliver a recorded work adding to an anthology that responds to political issues, cultural heritage and identity.
Kaylah Truth is certainly no stranger to the stage. Over the years she has performed as part of Poetic Murriz and, multi award winning crew, Impossible Odds. Her time as a solo artist has also seen her supporting and hosting International artists including TLC, Kid Ink, Nelly, Naughty By Nature, B.O.B, Lupe Fiasco, Ciara, J.Holiday and Lady Leshurr.
Jhindu hails from Cairns, where he grew up playing in pubs with the Medics. Treading country/folk waters with a touch of alt rock, his own songs tell stories of his experience and point of view as a young aboriginal man growing up in an ever-changing world.
MACK RIDGE (Joseph Collins)
Mack Ridge is an emerging indigenous Hip Hop artist based in Brisbane City. Ridge’s music has urban influences including 2Pac and Ice Cube and he is currently working on a new and exciting EP.
Meet Val Flynn, a born performer and refreshing new voice in the Australian music scene. Reminiscent of early 2000’s hip-hop futuristic sounds, and exploring themes of love, sex, and individuality, Val Flynn has global ambitions to resonate with the heart beats that skip to their own sound.
LUKE DANIEL PEACOCK
Luke Daniel Peacock is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter from Brisbane. In 2016, Luke Daniel Peacock recorded a ‘spontaneous’ album of solo work that resulted in several Queensland Music Awards, including the Billy Thorpe Scholarship Award for emerging songwriters.
